Who is responsible

LITTLELIFESKILLSACADEMY LTD, company number 17496281, trading as Little Life Skills Academy, is responsible for the personal information we use to operate our book shop. Contact us at aydenandaysha@gmail.com. This notice covers our website, orders and customer communications.

Information we use

When you order or contact us, we use the information you supply, such as your name, email address, billing and delivery addresses, order contents, payment status, delivery instructions and messages. A phone number may be needed for a delivery service you choose. If account features are available and you create an account, Squarespace also processes the account information needed to provide that feature.

Our website and payment providers process technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, security events and transaction references. Optional website analytics may record page visits, interactions and referral information when you consent to the relevant cookies. Payment details are handled by Squarespace Payments and its payment processing partners. We receive the information needed to manage the transaction, such as payment status and limited payment method details, rather than asking you to email full card details.

Why we use it and our legal bases

Contract: to process purchases, arrange delivery, send essential order messages and administer cancellations and refunds. Some information is necessary to fulfil an order; without it we may be unable to supply the books.
Legal obligation: to maintain required accounting records and comply with applicable legal requests.
Legitimate interests: to answer general enquiries, manage complaints and legal claims, protect our shop and customers from fraud, and maintain website security. We consider the impact on your rights when relying on these interests.
Consent: to send optional marketing emails and use optional analytics cookies. Buying a book does not by itself subscribe you to marketing. You can unsubscribe or email us to withdraw marketing consent. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing. Essential order messages are separate from marketing.

Who receives information

We share information only as needed for these purposes. Squarespace hosts our shop and supports checkout, forms and order administration. Squarespace Payments, Stripe and any wallet provider you select process payments and carry out their own security checks. Our email service, Google Gmail, handles customer correspondence. Delivery providers receive the contact and delivery details needed for the service used.

Where we manually order an author copy for delivery directly to you, we provide Amazon with the recipient and address details needed to deliver it. Where we post an order through InPost or another selected carrier, that carrier receives the information needed to fulfil and track the delivery. We may also disclose relevant records to professional advisers, regulators or authorities where necessary and lawful. We do not sell your personal information or provide it to others for their independent marketing.

Independent providers may also act as data controllers for their own payment, security or delivery purposes. Their notices explain those uses: Squarespace at https://www.squarespace.com/privacy, Stripe at https://stripe.com/privacy, Google at https://policies.google.com/privacy, Amazon at https://www.amazon.co.uk/privacy and InPost at https://inpost.co.uk/privacy-policy. Following an external shop link, including an Amazon buying link, takes you to a separate service with its own privacy arrangements.

International processing

Some suppliers process information outside the UK. For transfers that require protection under UK data protection law, appropriate safeguards must apply, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards. Squarespace describes its transfer arrangements, including applicable Data Privacy Framework arrangements and contractual safeguards, at https://www.squarespace.com/dpa. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

How long we keep information

We keep accounting and associated order records for six years from the end of the company financial year they relate to, or longer where a legal requirement or active claim requires it. Other customer messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve the enquiry, administer the relationship and deal with related claims. Marketing contact details are retained while you remain subscribed; we may keep a minimal suppression record to respect an unsubscribe request. Cookie lifetimes depend on the particular cookie and are described in the Squarespace cookie information linked below. We review information and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed.

Cookies and your choices

Essential cookies support functions such as the shopping basket, checkout, security and saved cookie choices. Optional cookies support website analytics. The cookie banner lets you Accept all, Decline all or Manage cookies. Optional cookies are restricted unless you agree to them. You can revisit Cookie Preferences to change your choices. Browser settings also let you delete cookies, but blocking essential cookies may affect the shop. Squarespace describes its cookies and their lifetimes at https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001264507-The-cookies-Squarespace-uses. The exact cookies used depend on the features you use. Third party links and wallet services may apply their own cookie controls.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct, erase or restrict use of your information, and request a portable copy of information where the right applies. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. You have an absolute right to object to direct marketing. These rights have legal limits, for example where we must retain accounting records. Contact us to make a request. We may need proportionate information to confirm your identity. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.

Children

Our books are for children, but the shop and checkout are intended for adults buying for them. We do not ask children to open accounts or submit personal information. Please do not include unnecessary information about a child in order notes or messages. If you believe a child has provided information that should not be held, contact us.

Security and updates

We use appropriate access and organisational measures to protect the information we handle. No online service can promise absolute security. Payment providers may use automated fraud and security checks under their own policies; we do not use your information to make our own solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. We will update this notice if our services or information practices change and show the revision date above.
